ALso changing your MTU to the right one would also improve performence..
DISABLE NAGLE:
Description
Disables nagling. Nagling is a TCP feature that combines several small packets into a single, larger packet for more efficient transmission.
By default, Message Queuing (also known as MSMQ) enables nagling on the TCP sockets it uses. This improves overall performance, but it might briefly delay transmission of smaller packets. If the delay is undesirable or unacceptable, then you can add this entry to the registry to disable nagling.
FOR WINDOWS VISTA AND WINDOWS 7:
1. From a command prompt (usually in All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt) run “regedit”
2. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces
3. Browse the items under interfaces until you find one that has an IPAddress entry matching the network interface you want to affect (typically LAN IP addresses start with 192.168 or 10.0); note that if your IP address is automatically assigned by a DHCP server you may need to look for a matching DhcpIPAddress instead of IPAddress
4. Right-click on the interface and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, name it “TcpAckFrequency”
5. Right-click the new TcpAckFrequency value and select Modify, enter “1″ (Hexadecimal radio button should be selected)
6. Right-click on the interface and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, name it “TCPNoDelay” (note that TCP is all uppercase this time – that’s intentional)
7. Right-click the new TCPNoDelay value and select Modify, enter “1″ (Hexadecimal radio button should be selected)
8. Verify that both TcpAckFrequency and TCPNoDelay now show up in the adapter’s property list with types REG_DWORD and values 0×00000001
9. Exit regedit and reboot (reboot is necessary for the changes to take effect!)
10. Play a game and enjoy your new low ping

The tweak below allows for tweaking or disabling Nagle's alogrithm. Disabling "nagling" allows for very small packets to be transferred immediately without delay. Note that is only recommended for some games, and it may have negative impact on file transfers/throughput. The default state (Nagling enabled) improves performance by allowing several small packets to be combined together into a single, larger packet for more efficient transmission. While this improves overall performance and reduces TCP/IP overhead, it may briefly delay transmission of smaller packets. Keep in mind that disabling Nagle's algorithm may have some negative effect on file transfers, and can only help reduce delay in some games. To implement this tweak, in the registry editor (Start>Run>regedit) find:
This setting configures the maximum number of outstanding ACKs in Windows XP/2003/Vista/2008:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{NIC-id}
There will be multiple NIC interfaces listed there, for example: {1660430C-B14A-4AC2-8F83-B653E83E8297}. Find the correct one with your IP address listed. Under this {NIC-id} key, create a new DWORD value:
TcpAckFrequency=1 (DWORD value, 1=disable, 2=default, 2-n=send ACKs if outstanding ACKs before timed interval. Setting not present by default).
For gaming performance, recommended is 1 (disable). For pure throughput and data streaming, you can experiment with values over 2. If you try larger values, just make sure TcpAckFrequency*MTU is less than RWIN, since the sender may stop sending data if RWIN fills without an acknowledgement.
Also, find the following key (if present):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSMQ\Parameters
Add a new DWORD value:
TCPNoDelay=1 (DWORD value, 0 to enable Nagle's algorithm, 1 to disable, not present by default)
To configure the ACK interval timeout (only has effect if nagling is enabled), find the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{NIC-id}
TcpDelAckTicks=0 (DWORD value, default=2, 0=disable nagling, 1-6=100-600 ms). Note you can also set this to 1 to reduce the nagle effect from the default of 200ms without disabling it.
For Windows NT SP4, the TcpDelAckTicks path is:

CHANGING MTU AND OPTIMAL SETTING FOR YOUR GAMES

A: choice your network card.. The internet interface. Choice the right one -_-
B: change your mtu. by default it should be 1500, you can try to increase or decrease it to see performence increase or lost? Normally, DSL user are normally 1492. If you are using Pppoe connection, check it, else just unchecked and ignore this. But you can try it to see if you gain or lost performence. To find out your optimum MTU use ping http://www.google.com -f -l XXXX (XXXX number of packet size) until you get the small working XXXX and not defrag.. When you find it out, add 28 to that number. 28 and it wshould be your MTU.. XXXX + 28 = YOUR MTU. But you can try under it to see if it better...
C: use optimal setting for performence if you dont know what you are doing.
Dont forget to backup your register setting. OR REMEMBERS OF YOUR OLD SETTING so you can put back everything in case of disaster!... :S
Then apply change and reboot your computer and test performence ingame.
